Reporting to the Vice President, this individual will manage construction projects to successful completion. They will be responsible for project safety, quality, budget and schedule performance, and will actively support business development by preparing proposals, meeting with clients, and conveying what uniquely differentiates Northland Mechanical in our market.

Key responsibilities
  • Full understanding of the construction project process (submittals, RFIs, change requests, project closeout)
  • Apply knowledge of building codes and best-practice work methods
  • Forecast hours and schedule labor; communicate with foremen clearly, consistently and on time
  • Assure employees adhere to company safety policies; implement quality control and quality assurance
  • Develop and nurture existing client relationships and actively seek new business
  • Take the initiative to collect on invoices in a timely fashion
  • Encourage a culture of continuous improvement, transparency, accountability and integrity
  • Deliver projects that exceed customer expectations and meet or exceed profitability goals
Requirements
  • 5+ years of mechanical project management experience in the construction industry
  • Demonstrated success cultivating new and developing existing client relationships
  • Mastery-level understanding of construction and mechanical industry best practices, standards, codes and regulations
  • Experience directing teams of trades using proven project management techniques
  • High computer literacy, including job-estimating software, and the ability to master new platforms quickly
Preferred
  • Experience preparing plumbing, piping and sheet metal estimates
  • Sage 300 CRE proficiency

You will be responsible for the sale of Northland Mechanical's service offerings to building owners, facility managers and other decision-makers, managing the sales process to advance each client's operational and fiscal objectives while delivering on our value proposition. You will identify, develop and win new client business and close sales leads from existing customers.

Key responsibilities
  • Sell Northland's services confidently, aligning service and maintenance offerings with building owner objectives
  • Prepare and present effective sales proposals to new prospects and existing clients
  • Assess customers' operations and show decision makers how Northland's services reduce costs, improve building operations and increase occupant comfort
  • Qualify potential customers and develop leads to support all business segments
  • Propose quality, timely equipment maintenance contracts that build long-term client relationships
  • Develop new clients through networking, referrals and other lead-generating activities
  • Plan, document and execute the sales process while managing multiple ongoing opportunities
  • Identify safety and risk concerns at client sites and inform the right stakeholders
  • Keep management informed on account and prospect development
Required experience
  • 2+ years of account management or sales experience in the HVAC industry
  • Demonstrated success cultivating new and developing existing client relationships
  • Fundamental understanding of mechanical industry equipment, systems and terminology
  • Experience developing new business and closing on lead opportunities
